Senior Gearbox & Systems Engineer – F1 | Italy

Join a leading Formula 1 team and play a pivotal role in ensuring peak performance and reliability of F1 car components. Based in Italy, the Senior Gearbox & Systems Engineer is responsible for mechanical assembly validation, ensuring all parts meet the highest standards before they hit the track.

This role includes supporting Race and Test events (remotely) 10-20% travel potential, addressing on-track issues, and optimising performance for each race weekend. You’ll work closely with the Race Team, Design Office, and external partners to deliver reliable and high-performing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing & Validation: Organize and oversee car part testing and sign-off, ensuring all components meet required performance standards.
  • Data Analysis: Manage data analysis to ensure accurate results and provide insights to relevant departments.
  • Design & Collaboration: Work with the Design Office to create test rigs and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electronics and race teams.
  • Pit Stop Performance: Contribute to pit stop data analysis, focusing on performance and reliability of technical equipment.
  • Race & Test Support: Remotely attend race weekends, monitor component performance, and implement improvements based on findings.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree: University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in hydraulic automation, mechanical design, and high-performance automotive or F1 industries.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of hydraulic components and proficiency in Siemens NXMcLaren Electronics, or similar software.
  • Communication: Excellent English skills (verbal and written); Italian fluency is a plus.
  • Teamwork: Ability to motivate and collaborate with cross-functional teams under pressure.
