Introduction
Adren White is recruiting on behalf of our esteemed client for the Mechanical Technician position based near Bedford. This is an exciting opportunity to join an integrated Engineering Services team, contributing to the maintenance and improvement of plant equipment, Facilities and associated machinery.

Key Purpose of the Job
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for delivering day-to-day tasks as prioritised and scheduled by Team Leaders and Seniors. This role involves providing efficient planned and reactive maintenance of plant equipment, monitoring operating conditions, and capturing essential data.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, emergent repairs, and planned maintenance of tunnel testing equipment.
  • Repair plant and associated equipment during breakdowns, including fault-finding per supervisory instructions.
  • Operate and monitor 250 bar and 10 bar compressors.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, and de-commissioning of new plant and equipment, sharing design and implementation improvement ideas.
  • Support Site Services with mechanical maintenance, installations, and upgrades to facilities plant when requested.
  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering-related risk assessments and method statements, ensuring health and safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Conduct role-specific, functional, and health & safety training as directed, including e-learning modules.
  • Adhere to Site Security and Quality Assurance procedures and standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Education:
    • Completion of a time-served Mechanical Apprenticeship, ideally with an ONC/BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • High-Pressure (HP) Air systems
    • Water cooling and treatment systems (desired)
    • Lubrication and hydraulic systems
    • Mechanical machinery and infrastructure, including rotating/reciprocating components
    • Bearings, seals, and gaskets
    • Gears, cams, levers, and linkages
